Policies and Procedures

My first responsibility and priority is towards the children in my care. As an Ofsted registered childminder, I am required to keep several policies and procedures in relation to how I run my business detailing how I will care for the children, being mindful of their individuality and relevant legislation.  I do this by taking regular training courses and by reading relevant publications for example, The Foundation Stage Profile Handbook, Ofsted website, Surrey’s e-bulletin, the Department for Education website and monthly update newsletter, Safeguarding Children practices and many others.  A policy is a written statement about how I work in one area of my practice.  A procedure details the actions I will take to carry out the policy.  My policies and procedures are listed below in alphabetical order: -

  1. Accident and Emergency Policy (including fire safety) and a list of my first aid kit
  2. Animal Policy
  3. Behaviour Policy (including bullying)
  4. Compliments and Complaints Policy
  5. Confidentiality/Data Protection Policy
  6. Equal Opportunities including Special Educational Needs
  7. Food and Drink policy
  8. Illness, medication and Infectious Diseases Policy
  9. Mobile Phone, camera, internet and social networking policy
  10. Safeguarding Children Policy (including handout on bruising in children who are not independently mobile)
  11. Safety on outings (including lost or missing child)
  12. Smoking, alcohol and drugs Policy
  13. Toileting, nappy changing and intimate care policy
  14. Working with parents’ policy

IMPORTANT

I have written these policies myself and cannot take any responsibility for accuracy if they are copied in part or in whole.
